2027 Global Stock Pitch Competition

The McGill Investment Club (“MIC”) is excited to present its annual Global Stock Pitch Competition (“GSP”), open to all undergraduate students worldwide. On March 27, 2027 teams of 1-4 students will compete for a prize pool of C$7,500.

Over 770 students representing more than 100 universities globally competed in last year’s competition.

Timeline

January 8th, 2027 - Event Launch

  • Registration for GSP opens. Teams of 1-4 students must first sign up to compete by filling out a registration which will be posted closer to event launch.

  • After registering, teams may submit anytime until the deadline on March 11th by sending their slide deck and a copies of each teammates’ resumes to mail@mcgillinvestmentclub.ca for a preliminary screening round. The slide deck and subject line should be titled “TEAM NAME" - GSP Competition”. Late submissions will not be accepted.

February 21st, 2027 @ 9:00AM ET - Information Session

  • The MIC will host an information session on Zoom providing further details on the upcoming competition. All interested teams are highly encouraged to attend. The Zoom link will be posted closer to the Information Session.

March 11th, 2027 @ 11:59PM ET - Submission Deadline

  • Teams must submit separate PDF copies of their slide deck and each of their resumes to mail@mcgillinvestmentclub.ca for a preliminary screening round. The slide deck and email subject line should be title “TEAM NAME - GSP Competition”.

March 14th, 2027 - Semi-finalist Notification

  • The top 25 teams will be notified by March 14th. Selected teams must pay a delegate fee of C$80 per team, which will be put into the prize pool. This fee must be paid by March 17th at 11:50PM ET or teams will forfeit their position.

March 17th, 2027 @ 11:59PM ET - Final Slide Deck and Delegate Fee Deadline

  • Selected teams must submit their final slide deck as a PDF to mail@mcgillinvestmentclub.ca, as well as pay their team’s delegate fee. This slide deck and email subject line should be titled “TEAM NAME - GSP Competition Final”.

March 20th, 2027 - Pitch Day

  • Teams will be sent a Zoom link the day before with their respective breakout room. Each team will have 15 minutes to present, followed by a 10-minute Q&A session with the judges.

  • 5 teams will be chosen to present in the final round open to everyone for viewing, starting at 2:00PM ET.

  • The sponsor panel will commence at 5:00PM ET, and prize winners will be announced at the end of the event.

FAQ

  • Teams may pitch a long or short position in a publicly traded company from any industry or exchange. As of market close on March 12, 2027, the company must have a market capitalization between US$1 billion and US$10 billion and a share price above US$5.00, after adjusting for exchange rates.

  • Pitch decks may contain a maximum of 15 slides, excluding the title slide and appendices. Each pitch must include the following sections: Company and Industry Overview, Investment Theses, Financial Valuation, and Risks and Catalysts.

  • Each team will have 15 minutes to present, followed by a 10-minute Q&A with the judging panel.

  • Teams will be evaluated according to the criteria outlined in the official competition rulebook. A comprehensive breakdown of the judging criteria and competition rules is available below.

  • The C$7,500 prize pool is divided among the top five teams and four superlative award recipients. The first-place team receives C$4,000, followed by C$1,500 for second place, C$750 for third, C$500 for fourth, and C$250 for fifth. Four additional C$125 awards are presented for Best First-Year Team, Best Speaker, Best Formatting, and Best Inter-School Team.
