Investment Committee

The Investment Committee (“IC”) is the core of the McGill Investment Club, bringing together students with a shared interest in investing and capital markets. Members progress through the Junior Analyst, Senior Analyst, Head Analyst, and Senior Advisor programs.

Junior and Senior Analysts build a foundation in fundamental investing through structured education and stock pitching, while receiving mentorship and recruiting preparation for careers in finance. As Head Analysts and Senior Advisors, members take on leadership roles, leading education, mentoring younger Analysts, and helping shape the direction and culture of the IC.

Beyond its curriculum, the IC provides a close-knit network across class years, alumni, and industry professionals, building relationships that extend well beyond McGill.

Junior Analyst Program

The Junior Analyst Program is the Investment Committee’s entry-level program for incoming first-year McGill students. Junior Analysts participate in weekly investment education sessions, recruitment preparation workshops, exclusive networking events, and one-on-one mentorship throughout the academic year.

During the fall semester, Junior Analysts build a foundation in business analysis, industry research, financial statement analysis, valuation, and investment thesis development. In the winter semester, they apply these skills through MIC’s Capstone Stock Pitch Competition, working in sector teams to develop and present an investment idea to a panel of industry professionals.

Beyond investing, the program is designed to support analysts throughout their university careers through mentorship, recruiting preparation, networking opportunities, and a strong Investment Committee community.

Senior Analyst Program

The Senior Analyst Program builds on the foundation developed during the Junior Analyst year and gives returning Investment Committee members the opportunity to deepen their investing skills while taking on greater responsibility within the committee.

Senior Analysts continue to develop their ability to analyze businesses, evaluate industries, form differentiated investment theses, and value companies while working on more advanced investment research and stock pitches throughout the year.

Senior Analysts also play an important role in the development of the Junior Analyst cohort, providing mentorship, sharing recruiting experience, and helping foster the collaborative culture of the Investment Committee.
