We Are McGill’s Leading Investment Club.

Founded in 1999, the McGill Investment Club (“MIC”) is a student-run organization dedicated to bridging the gap between the classroom and the financial workplace. Open to students across all faculties, MIC provides opportunities to build investment knowledge, develop practical skills, and gain exposure to the finance industry.

At the core of MIC is the Investment Committee, a comprehensive investing and career-development program combining finance education, stock pitching, mentorship, and industry networking. Beyond the Investment Committee, MIC organizes several of McGill’s largest finance initiatives, including the Toronto Finance Convention, New York Finance Convention, Women in Finance Convention, and Global Stock Pitch Competition.

With more than 700 members, MIC brings together students, alumni, and leading financial institutions through programming designed to develop the next generation of investors and finance professionals.

Our Initiatives

General Membership is the easiest way to get involved with the McGill Investment Club and is open to students across all faculties and years at any point during the academic year. Members gain access to MIC’s programming, resources, and community, with the flexibility to participate based on their own interests and schedule.

Throughout the year, members receive MIC’s weekly newsletter, can attend public education sessions covering investing, stock pitching, and recruitment preparation, and gain access to networking opportunities with leading financial institutions. Members are also eligible to apply to MIC’s finance conventions and competitions, providing additional opportunities to develop their skills and connect with the industry.

Become a General Member

The Investment Committee (“IC”) is the core mandate of the McGill Investment Club and its most intensive investing program. The IC provides students with a structured curriculum designed to develop the skills required to analyze businesses, form differentiated investment theses, value companies, and communicate investment ideas.

Analysts progress through MIC’s Junior Analyst, Senior Analyst, and Head Analyst programs, combining education with hands-on stock pitching, one-on-one mentorship, recruiting preparation, and exclusive networking opportunities with partner firms. Junior Analysts begin with rigorous training culminating in a Capstone Stock Pitch Competition presented to industry professionals, while more senior members take on increasingly advanced investing and mentorship responsibilities.

MIC’s Finance Conventions connect McGill students with leading financial institutions through immersive recruiting, educational, and networking experiences. The club hosts three conventions throughout the academic year: the Toronto Finance Convention, New York Finance Convention, and Women in Finance Convention.

The Toronto and New York Finance Conventions are MIC’s flagship recruitment events, giving students the opportunity to meet alumni and industry professionals through firm visits, information sessions, networking cocktails, and other events ahead of recruiting cycles. The Women in Finance Convention brings together female students and industry professionals through firm presentations, workshops, panels, networking luncheons, and other programming, with the goal of strengthening the women-in-finance community at McGill.

The Global Stock Pitch Competition (“GSP”) is one of the largest undergraduate stock pitch competitions of its kind in North America, bringing together students from universities around the world to develop and present differentiated investment ideas. Teams conduct in-depth research and analysis before selected participants advance through semifinal and final rounds judged by industry professionals.

The competition gives students an opportunity to apply investment skills beyond the classroom, receive feedback from experienced investors, and compete alongside peers with a shared interest in investing and capital markets. In 2026, the GSP received 260 submissions from more than 770 students representing 105 universities worldwide, marking the largest iteration in MIC history.
